Meet our speaker
"At the beginning of my professional journey, I delved into the realm of psychology at Central Queensland University Bundaberg. It was here that I embarked on the path that would shape my career. This pivotal experience laid the foundation for my future having attained my Bachelor of Psychology through CQU, I laid the foundation for my future endeavours in this dynamic field.
My practice began in a local medical practice. During my time there, I could see that there was a need for encouraging and helping people with both their health and wellness holistically. I have always had a passion for fitness and wondered why there wasn’t a one-stop-shop where you could focus on your physical fitness as well as your mental health and wellbeing. Wouldn’t it be great if all the tools you needed to help improve your life were all under the one roof?
The catalyst of my entrepreneurial spirit was planted early on during my formative years, inspired by mother’s journey and challenges she confronted with her health (which she ultimately succumbed to). Her need for support and care became a driving force behind my desire to make a positive impact in the realm of health and wellness.
Thus, the seed of an idea was planted. It took a while for my plans to be realised though, as were a few hurdles to overcome. Upon obtaining my psychologist supervisor qualification, I was ready and determined to pursue my core value that everybody deserves health and wellness in their lives.
In 2009, I opened the very first allied health clinic and gym in Bundaberg – Btransformed. Through a combination of hard work, innovation, dedication, and my tertiary qualifications, I was able realise my vision I had dreamed of all those years ago. I was now able to help ‘pay forward’ my good fortune in helping my patients and the wider community achieve their goals as well.
As an advocate of mentorship and lifelong learning, I aimed by providing health and wellness knowledge to both my clients and like-minded people, through education or the training we have on offer and undertaking additional studies myself in 2010 to become a Board-approved supervisor. In addition to our teaching and choreographing fitness classes, bootcamps, Pilates, personal training and health and wellness masterclasses, I started offering Certificates III and V in Fitness as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
As I reflect on my journey, I am deeply thankful for the strides I have made in my business endeavours, thanks in no small part to the unwavering support of my family and dedicated staff and team. Their encouragement and hard work have been instrumental in shaping the success of my ventures.
The friendships I have cultivated and the mentorship I have received along the way have also played significant role in my growth. I am honoured that I was able to occasionally share my insights and experiences by lecturing at the Bundaberg campus, completing a meaningful cycle in my journey.
I am particularly passionate about encouraging allied health and fitness professionals to actively engage in community outreach and support initiatives. By leveraging our expertise and resources, we have the power to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around us.
Having such a supportive network, both within my family and among my team, has truly been a blessing. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to continue empowering and inspiring allied health and fitness professionals to positively impact their communities!"
