Over breakfast Dr Harrichund will share stories of her journey as a South African trained Specialist Consultant with Dual recognition as a Physician and Endocrinologist.
Dr Harrichund has a Masters degree in Medicine and has published the results of a study she conducted on renal transplant patients in the local Endocrine Journal.
She has worked in the Bundaberg public hospital , but left in 2013 to set up Private practice . She also took up Directorship of the local Medical School - Rural Clinical School of Bundaberg that same year.
In 2014, Dr Harrichund had to make a difficult decision to pursue academia, or to focus on her clinical work. While she loved teaching, she felt a great responsibility to her patients, so she left the school to focus solely on her private practice.
Having knowledge of the public system, the medical education system, and the Private hospital system allowed her to identify gaps in healthcare delivery which led her to create Precision Healthcare Centre.
She aims to close the gap by employing a holistic model of care.
