Our June Networking breakfast will be hosted at Rowers on the River Bundaberg.
Our Special Guest is Carly Clark Owner / Manager of Splitters Farm.
The Journey To Splitters Farm
Ashley and Carly Clark purchased Splitters Farm in mid-2017 with a view to give their five children the benefit of a farm-based rural upbringing.
Carly Clark grew up on acreage South West of Sydney and always loved animals. Her very first job at the age of 14 was picking up eggs on a battery hen farm which meant that from a young age she was exposed to horrific animal cruelty through unsustainable farming practices.
It was always the Clark couples dream to own a property and run some cattle however, it wasn’t until someone offered to purchase their family home in the Bundaberg CBD during a garage sale, that it got the couple thinking about buying a farm. The dream has evolved ever since.
They bought 160 acre dump in Sharon and as soon as they had fences constructed they began taking on rescue animals because of the drought. Carly was then forced to run farm tours in late 2019 to cover food & vet bills for the growing rescue animal population. When tours had to cease because of COVID in 2020, the couple evolved their business model and got busy building a farm stay. In Dec 2020 they opened their accommodation offering with more than 50 powered camp sites & 8 luxury glamping tents.
The award winning property now plays host to destination weddings, school camps and events and, with plans to expand further, this home grown success story is one built on hard work and resilience.
Carly is the owner of Splitters Farm, 160 acre property located in Sharon, just a 10min drive north of Bundaberg. Splitters Farm started as an animal sanctuary in 2017 and is now home to over 300 rescue animals and counting. This true rural agri-business and tourism destination now compliment’s Bundaberg’s already famous reef experiences and offers farm tours daily, camping and 5-star glamping facilities. Known first for her love of animals, Carly also has 25 years marketing experience with a diverse career background in radio, tourism and events. She previously owned her own marketing business in Bunbury WA, responsible for creating some of Western Australia’s most iconic tourism events and festivals. Prior to relocating to Bundaberg nearly a decade ago, Carly was based in Sydney as the Marketing and Live Events Manager for Australia’s most successful export, The Wiggles.
